Roswell

Here is a view or two from Enchanted Trails..

The crazy long road to Roswell..



Today we got up and headed for Roswell, NM. It was about a 3 hour drive from Albuquerque but we got there and stopped in their visitor center to find out where the alien stuff was, and then moved on to the UFO Museum.



The museum was cool. It showed pictures of what were thought to be UFO's and had the whole history of the incident. We took a lot pictures of silly things.










Mostly we hit the gift shops though, for alien souvenirs. Grandpa bought us all alien masks, so we could be aliens in Roswell.




We also finally, had some authentic Mexican food. I had the best burrito ever, and I will probably never be able to eat another one in the northeast again..

We decided to stay the night at the Days Inn in Roswell so that we could drive 100 more miles south to go see the Carlsbad Caverns tomorrow.

So here we are in the hotel. Thankful for cable, our own shower, and a real bed.

Tomorrow it's off to the caverns!

Calm

Today was a slow day for us. We slept in until Grandpa slammed the door and came in with coffee. We had some breakfast and then waited for the place to open so the girls could go swimming and we could get WiFi again.




We had a small outing into Albequerque to Wal*Mart to pick up some food, and a whole bunch of other things. Mostly so that we could be settled here for the week. We organized the camper as best we could, and the girls spent as much of the day in the pool as possible. That is, when it wasn't pouring and there wasn't the loudest thunder ever.
For dinner we made burgers on the barbecue. Finally had some real food, with fruit and some other healthy things thrown in.
Tomorrow we're off to Roswell.

New Mexico we made it

Today we left Oklahoma, and drove on into Texas. I personally enjoyed Texas, it was neat to see nothing for miles and miles and miles. I really wanted some cowboy boots from Texas, but Grandpa won't stop in the cities and really the only town we went through was the city of Amarillo, so I'll have to settle for New Mexcio cowboy boots. Which is probably exactly the same. The drive went pretty fast, we stopped at a lot of gift shops and started buying everyone presents.

We found the cars burried in the sad and stopped to check those out.
Some where in Texas was the largest cross in the western hemisphere.....
And in general it was just pretty..

Eventually we made it to New Mexico, which is a whole different landscape. Everything is red and brown, and they have symbols on all of their bidges and walls. The houses are so neat to. We saw some huge homes built into the side of a hill that were just beautiful.

Grandpa thought we would never make it here to Enchanted Trails Camp Ground. We did though. It's very sandy, and there is some crazy lightening going on in the distance. We're hoping we don't have a repeat of Illinois.

The girls are settling in the watch a movie, and Grammy and Grandpa are going to sleep.

So yea, we're finally here!
